One of the most awaited Microsoft developer conferences took place on 18 and 19th of sep in Brighton. Yes .. it was Remix 08. We had speakers like Bill Buxton (principal researcher at Microsoft) and Scott Guthrie beginning the conference with their excellent keynotes, and this was then followed on by other developer/design related talks.
I once again participated in the Ready Steady Speak competition (last time I participated was in Microsoft Launch Event) and I had a great time! My chosen topic was MVC in ASP.NET 3.5. You may download my presentation slides from here.
Even though I couldn’t make it to the finals of the competition nevertheless I got some good feedback from the four judges who reviewed my talk. The judges were:
Guy Smith Ferrier
Mike Taulty
Dave Sussman
Phil Whinstanley
My Pros (as pointed out by the judges)
1) Good interaction with the public. Confident approach
2) Giving real world examples
My Cons
1) Font size, colour etc.
2) Finished in a slight hurry
3) Didn't complete the demo of MVC. The content was a bit too much!
This was quite a good experience for me and I hope to continue to build up my skills by taking part in such events. Last but not least thanks to the NxtGenUG and Dave Mc Mahon who have really helped me in giving this oppurtunity to present!

A brief on the READY STEADY SPEAK competetion:
This competetion aims to attract young and new speakers, who want to demonstrate their speaking skills. It usually happens in large conferences where the competetion is held during the lunch time or at break times. It is not that formal though, and we get a chance to speak for 5 min! We are also judged by a panel of four judges, and finally a winner is decided (who takes home a XBOX!). I have taken part in a similar competetion at the Microsoft UK launch event held at Birmingham, and won a runners up position!.I will be giving a short nugget on the same topic at NxtGenUG on 16th Sep, 08. My slided will be available to be downloaded from the NxtGenUG website after 16th sep 08.
